Tanna Series

This collection is inspired by the island of Tanna in Vanuatu. The locals use the natural resources the island provides to create their lifestyle.  Pandanus leaves and bamboo are used to build their homes, the food comes from their garden, everyone is part of the community.  As modern advances make their way to the island, you start to see concrete homes and tin roofs, many which are abandoned.  Each painting from this collection has influence from the natural materials the locals use, but is contrasted by the industrial changes being made. The natural elements I sourced myself, mixing them with textures and tribal sketches inspired by the island. Each piece is named after a village in Tanna.
